Vijay Jayaraman is one of the only two formally trained therapeutic endoscopists practicing in Southern Nevada. He is recognized as an authority on the use of endoscopic ultrasound, biliary and pancreatic endoscopy, ERCP, luminal stent placement, staging of GI malignancies, small bowel diseases.
In addition, he is highly proficient in all the standard endoscopic procedures and esophageal manometry. Over the past few years, because of this unique skill set, he has become the referral physician for complex endoscopic procedures that previously were referred out of state. As one of the most adept trainees in his program, he was selected to be chief resident. He was then chosen to do a highly selective advanced fellowship in therapeutic endoscopy at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Once his training was complete, Dr. Vijay joined the academic faculty at the University of Nevada. In this capacity he took an active role in the education of trainees in the only ACGME-accredited gastroenterology training program in the state. He also took part in clinical research, and has published numerous articles in nationally and internationally peer-reviewed journals. He has also been part faculty at national and regional conferences associated with training other gastroenterologists.
